Federal and State Financial Aid
While the process for applying for federal and state financial aid for graduate
students is the same as for undergraduate students, there are differences in
the programs and award amounts for graduate students. The programs listed
here are specifically for students who are working toward a graduate degree at
UTA.
To be eligible for the federal and state grants, Federal Work Study, or loans
listed you must meet the following conditions and requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Be working toward a degree at UTA
- Be enrolled at least half-time (5 hours for graduate students)
- Be making satisfactory scholastic progress toward your degree.
- Students
enrolled in some certificate
programs may qualify for
financial aid. Please contact
the office of Financial Aid for
details.
To apply for these programs, you must complete and submit the Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the federal processor. You can apply
on line at
www.fafsa.ed.gov
or obtain a paper copy of the FAFSA at many
public libraries, other colleges and universities or the UTA Office of Financial
Aid. It takes approximately three weeks for your FAFSA to be processed.
Mexican Pilot Program
Mexican students who are approved for the Mexican Pilot Program at UT Arlington may pay the Texas resident tuition rate.
Grant Programs
There are a limited number of grants available to students once they have
earned a bachelor’s degree. Grants are funds that normally do not require
repayment, and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Grant recipients
receive funding from only one of these sources per academic year and
preference is given for full-time enrollment (9 graduate hours per semester).
